Hand created works with a Purpose

Artist: Sherayah Lawson

All my life I have had a creative streak. As a little girl the walls in my home, was where my creativity manifested itself. As I got older I chose another canvas to express my creativity. I took up drawing and painting around twelve, and enjoyed it as a hobby. I was encouraged to develop my skills further and got my associates degree in studio art. I learned so much in those years about composition, color, and design. It truly brought me greater confidence in my ability. After college however life happened and I focused on trying to make an income and not so much on my art. I still created here and there but not as much.

In 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic allowed me some time to create once again. I shared my work on my Facebook account I had. July of 2020 a young man was interested in purchasing a piece. I was excited as it was my first official sale. A couple weeks later he invited me to tea and I agreed to meet. The day we met and talked, we ended up talking for hours about our passion for arts, our love for God, and our individual hope to impact others with the gospel. I left thinking that this was the type of man I had been praying for. We married in October 2021. Since then he has been my encourager and promoter of my work. His belief and action have given me the strength to keep on creating. Together we created a business plan and started A Time For Everything.

At Time For Everything is inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 which says, “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven— A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace. What benefit is there for the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the task which God has given the sons of mankind with which to occupy themselves. He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it. And God has so worked, that people will fear Him.” Ecclesiastes 3:1‭-‬14

Our vision is that we would not only create beautiful works of art, but also impact lives by donating to missions around the world. We have seen the impact one life can make and pray that the artwork will not only beautify a home but change hearts and lives one painting at a time.

A Time For Everything strives to do ALL things for the glory of God!!! As it says in 1 Corinthians 10:31-33 “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God. Do not offend Jews or Greeks, or the church of God; just as I also please everyone in all things, not seeking my own benefit but the benefit of the many, so that they may be saved.”

A special thanks to my husband Zachary Lawson for believing enough to put action to this vision.
